NATIONAL CONGRESS OF BLACK WOMEN / CHAPTERS

The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. is made up of local chapters in communities across the country, as well as At-large National Members and Life Members.  Each local chapter sends delegates to the Biennial meeting that elects national officers and sets policies for the organization. Chapters send representatives to the National Annual Awards Brunch and to the Annual Leadership Conference.

Chapters also serve their communities directly in programs such as College for Kids, Young Ambassadors, Candidates' Forums, Voter Education and Registration, Get Out The Vote and Mentoring Adults and Young People.  We hold a Celebration of Truth event on April 28th each year to commemorate our donation of the memorial bust of Sojourner Truth to the Congress. We work in coalitions on projects of mutual interest with other groups throughout the year.  We have great music on our site through Urban Radio 2000, and a radio program called Celebrating Truth.

If you would like to contact a local chapter near you, or you’re interested in starting one, please contact us at 202/678-6788 if that chapter does not have a direct link (blue) to the local chapter. Optionally - you may send an email to: joinus@nationalcongressbw.org or info@nationalcongressbw.org.  Our new mailing address is National Congress of Black Women, 1250 4th Street, SW, Suite WG-1, Washington, DC 20024.

We have many chapters other than the ones with a blue link through the National web site.  We have the following chapters and any of them can be reached by calling 202/678-6788 for further instructions:

The Aniyah Series Book

The Aniyah Series was designed from the direct vision of Stephanie Owens and as a result of culturally diverse surveys and research done both in and outside of the United States. We found that the Anlyah series has international appeal of both an artistic and educational nature.  The Aniyah Series "Maybe" Book 1
